Mombasa North Coast
20. September 2008
Peponi Divers Mombasa has again
organised the International Beach Clean Up as a coordinator.
At 9.30am Chris of Peponi Divers
welcomed the participant of this year International Beach Clean Up 2008.
Chris introduced a briefing explaining what has to be collected and how to
prevent rubbish ending up on the beaches, the sea and anywhere else.
Together with 34 girls from the
and some tourists we had cleaned about 3km from the Nyali beach section in
front of the hotels Reef, Mombasa Beach, Bahari Beach and Voyager resort.
We have collected rubbish from the beach, the cliff and the shallow
waters. We collected 21 bags of rubbish weighing around 186kg. Most found
item was plastic bags (340) followed by beverages bottles (235) and
After the clean up we had a fun day
at the Bahari Beach Hotel. Girls where singing and dancing after a small
snack provided by the hotel.
We would like to thank all
participants especially the girls of the
as they have
participated in the previous 3 years..
is a charity organisation to help homeless and
orphan girls picked up from the streets of Mombasa. The girls are between
2 and 18 years. They get a nice home, school and
further education and many can do attachments at the Bahari Beach Hotel
and some get even a job at the Hotel.
Hoping to see all aging at the
