Clean Up 2006
Mombasa North Coast 16th September
Peponi Divers Mombasa has invited 30 girls aged between
5 and 16 years from
Wema Centre and tourists to participate at the
International Beach Clean Up. Peponi Divers gave out the t-shirts and we
started with a briefing to give the teenagers all info about what to
collect and what to leave on the beach. Also we introduced a program to
make the participants understanding how to prevent cleaning beaches and
elsewhere in not dropping any rubbish. We explained that there are
dustbins allover to collect leftovers and they will be emptied and the
rubbish will be taken to the right place for disposal.
We have finished the
cleanup at around lunch time. We collected about 48kg of rubbish from an
area of about 3km. We could not clean more because the tide at Mombasa
North Coast was at 2.48 meter.
After the cleaning we had a fun afternoon with the girls
singing and dancing at the pool of Bahari Beach Hotel. The hotel provided
also lunch and drinks for the girls
